Radio “Azatlyk” reports that on 26 July the mother of a conscript got her son’s deformed body.
A 19-year old Oraz Suleiman was doing his military service at the border with Afghanistan in the military unit 2108 in Serkhetabad (formerly, Kushka).
His parents were informed on 25 July that their son allegedly died of food poisoning.
However, according to family members of the deceased conscript, the autopsy was performed and all organs were removed from the abdomen. The brain was also removed from the brain case. A few holes were noticeable on the back.
Officials from Turkmenistan’s Defense Ministry refused to inform the soldier’s family members where the injured had come from and urged them to bury the dead conscript on the same day.
Family members assumed that the holes on the back are bullet marks.
No compensation was provided to the family.
One of the family members said that Suleiman was not supposed to be drafted as he had been raised by a single mother and was the eldest son in the family. The mother also has a 12 year old daughter and the second son aged 9.
“Chronicles of Turkmenistan” has previously reported that due to a shortage of recruits even those unfit for military service for medical reasons or qualified to be deferred are drafted to the Turkmen army.
