President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in his video address at the International Forum for Northern Economic Cooperation, held in a hybrid format on Thursday in Seoul, stressed the need to further expand the mutually beneficial dialogue in promising areas of interest.
The President of South Korea Moon Jae-in and heads of numerous states also participated in the international forum.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan considers this forum as an important international platform for discussing and promoting strategic directions of economic cooperation throughout the Eurasian continent, as well as in a bilateral format with the Korean side, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release.
Combating the coronavirus pandemic and prevention of politicization of international community’s efforts in this area were among the key topics of the forum. Focusing on the issue, the Turkmen Leader stressed the need to further intensify cooperation through the UN, WHO and other authoritative international structures to this end.
“We realize the need to completely depoliticize the coronavirus issue and eliminate the practice of using it as an instrument of influence in interstate relations,” President Berdimuhamedov said.
Turkmenistan highly appreciates the many years of fruitful cooperation with South Korea in such areas as healthcare, green development, food security and other areas that are an integral part of South Korea's New North Policy, the Turkmen Leader added in his address.
This year’s forum also focused on further advancing multilateral cooperation in energy, transport, ecology and digitalization.
The President of Turkmenistan also attended last year's International Forum for Northern Economic Cooperation.
