President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Thursday received Natalia Gherman, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General and Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA).
During the meeting, the Head of State focused on the March 12 early presidential elections in Turkmenistan and invited the UN experts to assist in conducting them in Turkmenistan for an objective assessment of the electoral process.
President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov said all necessary efforts are being made to ensure that the elections are as free, transparent and democratic as possible on the basis of international norms and standards.
Observers from foreign countries and several international organizations, including the CIS, SCO, OSCE and the Organization of Turkic States, have been invited to the early presidential elections so far, the Head of State added.
"I have great respect for the fact that many observers have been invited from the structures, where Turkmenistan is a full member," Natalia Gherman said.
Natalia Gherman also highlighted the importance of the adoption of the National Development Program for the next 30 years during the meeting of the halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh on February 11 this year.
Furthermore, Head of UNRCCA expressed gratitude for the support received from the President, Government and people of Turkmenistan for the work of the Regional Center over the past 15 years.
Turkmenistan celebrated 30 years of membership in the United Nations on March 2 this year.
