The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan jointly with the Italian Trade Agency organized a Turkmen-Italian business forum in Ashgabat.
The forum brought together the representatives of the leading Italian companies and Turkmen businessmen, who actively develop the partnership in various spheres.The Italian delegation includes the leading specialists, representing famous companies, working in the strategic sectors of the national economy of Turkmenistan, in particular the fuel and energy sector, chemical and food industry, agriculture, etc.
Among them are Eni Turkmenistan, Maire Tecnimont, Nuovo Pignone, FATA, Kerry Logistics, Aermec, General Electric International, Brunel, etc.
The representatives of sectoral ministries and departments, as well as private manufacturers. The active participation of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in such meetings testify to the success of the policy on the support of the private sector of the Turkmen economy that significantly contributes to the production and export potential of the country.
Opening the meeting, the participants expressed satisfaction with the increasing dynamics of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Italy.
Speaking during the forum, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Turkmenistan Diego Ungaro underlined that the transformations taken place in our country prove the accelerated development of the economy, its diversification and competitive growth.
The reports on the economic potential of Turkmenistan were presented, and the possibilities and conditions for business operations in the Italian Republic were discussed during the meeting in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
As was noted, the steady paces of the economic development stand as the main factors determining the huge interest of foreign partners in strengthening relations with Turkmenistan.
The exhibition of goods produced in Turkmenistan jointly with Italian partners and based on the Italian technologies was organized in the framework of the forum. The exhibition demonstrated the achievements and export opportunities of domestic producers.
The forum participants noted that, implementing the programme on the modernization of the fuel and energy complex that focuses on the diversification of products with high added value and the export routes of energy carriers to the world markets, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to developing business relations with EU partners and intends to continue to involve the largest groups of companies, including Italian ones into joint projects.
Underlining the business nature of the old-term partnership and the existing enormous potential for its further development, the members of the Italian delegation emphasized that the constructive policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who pays particular attention to the development of cooperation with the EU countries promoted the efficient cooperation between the states.
Speaking about the intention to expand cooperation on the Turkmen market, the representatives of Italian companies noted that both dynamically developing bilateral relations and the favorable investment climate in the country stipulated their interest.
Confirming the mutual focus of the friendly countries on the further intensification of the Turkmen-Italian business cooperation, the forum participants identified the priority areas, which were considered in the framework of five sessions dedicated to the joint work in the fuel and energy sector, trade and economic sphere, transport and communications complex, agriculture and other areas.
Turkmen and Italian businessmen took part in the bilateral meetings in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the afternoon.The participants of the business forum expressed satisfaction with the fact that a significant step had been taken to specify the approaches to building up mutual trade turnover, establish direct contacts between the interested partners and supported the idea to organize the joint meetings on a regular basis.
