Turkmen Iodine Production Plant’s Output Nears Three Million Manats

Türkmendermansenagat Association's plant for the production of iodine in Bereket town of Turkmenistan’s western velayat of Balkan produced 2.73 million manats worth of products during the first three months of this year, which is 126% more than in the same period last year.

The plant's environmentally friendly products are in high demand not only in the domestic market, but also abroad, the official media of Turkmenistan reported on Wednesday.

The annual capacity of the plant is 250 million iodine sticks, 50 million iodine pencils and 500 thousand dental tampons.

The company's products are used in inpatient facilities, as well as in emergency departments.

Iodine is used as an antiseptic, biosensor testing and screening, and for household purposes.
