The first spring month of 2024 will be marked for Turkmen hockey players by two important events - the participation of national teams in the third division world championships among juniors under 18 and among adults.
As the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper reported, on February 13, the Turkmenistan national hockey team will go to Minsk to conduct training camps at the “Raubichi” multifunctional sports complex.
On this basis, Turkmen hockey players have repeatedly improved their skills under the guidance of experienced coaches, preparing for world and Asian competitions. This practice bore fruit in the form of medals won.
Thus, in 2019, the hockey team of Turkmenistan for the first time took part in the third division world championship in Sofia, where it won bronze medals. And at the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, the Turkmen team under the leadership of Bayram Allayarov became the winner of the tournament in the second division.
At the World Junior Championships under 18, Turkmenistan will be represented in the third division for the first time.The world championship will take place on March 4-8 in Cape Town.
The rivals of the Turkmen team in the group will be the teams of South Africa, Thailand and Hong Kong.Victory will ensure promotion to the second division.
The World Championships among men in the third division will be held on March 8-16 in Bishkek. Together with the Turkmen team, teams from Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Luxembourg, Thailand and South Africa will compete for promotion to the second division.
