Turkmen Foreign Minister Meets Director General of US Foreign Service

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on Sunday met with Carol Perez, the Director General of the Foreign Service, the United States Department of State, and Dean Thompson, the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs. The meeting was attended by the US Ambassador to Turkmenistan Matthew Klimow.

The meeting participants considered a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as touched upon international and regional topics of mutual interest, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release.

The sides confirmed their commitment to the further development of bilateral cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian fields.

The Turkmen and American officials additionally paid attention to the issue of climate change. They stated the relevance of building up an effective bilateral and multilateral dialogue in this area.

The diplomats also focused on building up trade-economic ties between Turkmenistan and the US, highlighting the fruitful activities of the Turkmen-American Business Council in this regard.
