Turkmen film participates in the program of the XVII Cheboksary International Film Festival

The new feature film Daragt (“Tree of Fate”) will represent Turkmenistan in the competition program of the XVII Cheboksary International Film Festival, dedicated to ethnic and regional cinema.

According to the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, the festival will be held in the capital of the Chuvash Republic from May 23 to 29. The festival premiere of the Turkmen film will take place at the Volzhsky cinema on May 27 at 17:00.

The film Daragt, shot by film director Sahysalyh Bayramov in 2023 at the Turkmenfilm Association named after Oguzhan, tells about the fate of a Turkmen family.

The starting event of the film is the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Like thousands of volunteers, the main character’s husband goes to the front, and she faces many years of waiting for her loved one to return.

All films presented at the XVII Cheboksary International Film Festival will be shown in their original language.

The film forum program also includes creative meetings, master classes and film screenings for children's audiences.

The award ceremony for the winners will be held at the Chuvash State Philharmonic, the source notes.
