Turkmen Diplomat Highlights Turkmen-Georgian Relations

Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov has been serving as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Georgia since August 2023. Despite his relatively short time in this role, the embassy is already setting ambitious new goals.

In an interview with Vecherny Tbilisi, the ambassador shared his priorities. He emphasized that Turkmenistan and Georgia have long-standing historical ties, built on mutual respect and openness. “The dynamic development of our relations is supported by regular high-level contacts and the establishment of an intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation,” he added.

Seyitmammedov also highlighted the importance of inter-parliamentary collaboration, noting the recent visit of Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili to Turkmenistan. “This visit marked an important milestone in strengthening our relations both bilaterally and internationally,” he said.

The ambassador further discussed cultural cooperation, particularly in the context of the 300th anniversary celebration of the great poet Magtymguly Pyragy. “We are actively organizing events in Georgia to introduce the public to his legacy,” he said, noting that the monument to Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli in Ashgabat symbolizes the friendship between the two nations.

In conclusion, Seyitmammedov expressed optimism about the continued development of mutually beneficial cooperation: “Connecting and realizing opportunities ensures progress.”
