Turkmen Delegation Participates in World Government Summit in Dubai

Delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Rashid Meredov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, is participating in the World Government Summit, held in Dubai on February 13-15, the official Turkmen media reported on Tuesday.

World Government Summit held under the theme of “Shaping Future Governments” gathered 20 state and government heads, more than 250 ministers and 10 thousand international government officials, experts and other authoritative people of different countries.

Rashid Meredov, speaking at the summit session, emphasized the need to combine the efforts of states and international organizations in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals at the global level. He stressed that Turkmenistan pays great attention to the implementation of national programs and international commitments on issues related to climate change.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that Turkmenistan takes a responsible approach to ensuring equality, fairness and mutual respect in international trade. In this regard, Rashid Meredov said Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the activities of the World Trade Organization and following its basic principles.

On the sidelines of the event, Rashid Meredov held meetings with Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the UAE, Pham Quang Hieu, Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the WTO Director General.

The World Government Summit has been held annually in Dubai since 2013.
