Turkmen Delegation Engages in Bilateral Meetings in Brussels

The Turkmen delegation led by Batyr Annaev, Deputy General Director of Turkmenistan's Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, conducted a series of meetings on Monday within the framework of the Investors Forum of the European Union's Global Gateway initiative in Brussels, Belgium, as reported by representatives of the Business Turkmenistan online publication attending the forum.

The delegation held discussions with key figures, including Adina Valean, European Commissioner for Transport; Kaspars Briskens, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Latvia; Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan; Ralph Ernst, Deputy Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities; Teresa Czerwinska, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank; Hans Hesen, Regional Sales Director for Europe and Central Asia at Royal IHC; Musab Alomar, OPEC Foundation Director for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe; and representatives of Arterail.

During the meeting with European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean, discussions centered on the Turkmen initiative to organize systematic business meetings between EU transport authorities and Central Asian countries. An agreement was reached to facilitate this event in the near future.

In the meeting with Vice President of the European Investment Bank Teresa Czerwinska, the possibilities of cooperation between the bank and Turkmenistan were explored, with a specific emphasis on investing in Turkmenistan's transportation system. Czerwinska affirmed the bank's keen interest in participating in projects across various sectors in Turkmenistan.

Throughout the meetings within the Global Gateway: Sustainable Transport Connectivity between Europe and Central Asia Forum, the Turkmen delegation showcased Turkmenistan's transport potential to company representatives. In response, the participants expressed their interest in engaging in business activities within Turkmenistan.

The Investors Forum of the European Union's Global Gateway initiative, held on January 29-30 in Brussels, aimed to transform the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor into a competitive, sustainable, smart, and efficient multimodal route connecting the two regions within a 15-day timeframe.
