The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan has integrated the information system TIR-EPD developed by the International Road Transport Union (IRU) with the "transit" module of the automated customs data system ASYCUDA World, the Customs Service announced on Thursday.
This integration is being implemented within the framework of the Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (TIR Convention).
TIR-EPD is a system for providing customs authorities with electronic preliminary information on goods transported by road and intended for entry into the customs territory, including transit. This enables customs authorities to use a risk management system for the movement of goods and vehicles across the customs border, including monitoring prices, quantities and types of goods.
The integration will speed up trade turnover and increase the country's transport and transit potential, according to the statement.
Currently, TIR-EPD is implemented in 35 countries of Europe and Asia.
