Turkmen athletes won two bronze medals on the final day of the World SAMBO Championships

Turkmen athletes won two bronze medals on the final day of the World SAMBO Championship in Tashkent.

The winners of the “bronze” in combat sambo were Abdylla Babaev (weight category up to 71 kg) and Rusdem Penjiev (up to 79 kg).

The world championship in Tashkent was held from 11 to 14 November. The World Championship program included sports and combat sambo competitions.

The medals were won by representatives of 22 countries.

The first place in the medal standings of the World Championship was taken by the sambo wrestlers of the Russian national team.The Russian team has won eight gold, six silver and four bronze medals.

The second place was taken by sambo wrestlers from Uzbekistan (3-5-3), the third - by Belarusians (3-0-5).According to the results of the competition, the Turkmen sambists won 3 bronze medals.

The World SAMBO Championships have been held annually since 1973. The next world championship will be held in Ashgabat in 2022.

In July 2020, the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) received full recognition from the IOC.
