As a result of two types of the program Turkmen athletes won 15 medals at the completed Asian Alysh Wrestling Championship, reports the “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” website.
The continental tournament was held from 21 to 23 May in Osh (Kyrgyzstan).
24 sets of awards in classical and freestyle Kyrgyz national wrestling were contested by 270 athletes from eight countries - Iran, India, Japan, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Turkmen masters of belt wrestling won 8 medals in the classic alysh style. In the final form of the program - freestyle alysh wrestling - Turkmen athletes won 7 medals: 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze.
Four gold medals were won in the men's tournament, in which the Turkmenistan national team took first place in the team standings.This success was provided to our team by Rozymyrat Medov (weight category up to 80 kg) and Arslan Hajamberdyev (up to 90 kg), and Dayanch Guvanjov (up to 70 kg) and Nurmuhammet Baydogdyyev (over 100 kg).
It is noteworthy that for the last three athletes this is the second medal in the tournament.A day earlier, in the competition of wrestlers of the classical style, Nurmuhammet Baydogdyyev also won gold, and Arslan Hajamberdyev and Dayanch Guvanjov won silver and bronze, respectively.
In the women's freestyle wrestling tournament, the silver medal was won by Jemal Ovlyakuliyeva (up to 70 kg), and the bronze medals were won by Maral Garjikova (up to 60 kg) and Naziya Jorayeva (up to 75 kg). A day earlier, in the classic style alysh wrestling, Jemal Ovlyakuliyeva was content with gold, and Naziya Jorayeva with bronze.
Athletes, who won prizes, were awarded with medals, diplomas and valuable prizes.
The event became the second stage of selection for the IV World Nomad Games, which will be held in September 2022 in the Turkish city of Iznik.
