Turkmen athletes have registered to participate in the Asian Judo Cup among cadets and youth in Almaty (Kazakhstan). This is reported by the International Judo Federation (IJF).
The men's team of Turkmenistan included: Behruz Bahridinov, Ahmet Nuryev (both in the weight category up to 50 kg), Islam Shamedov, Shahruz Shanazarov (both up to 55 kg), Sohbet Myratgulyev, Ruslan Kuznetsov (both up to 60 kg), Gahryman Ashirov (up to 66 kg), Amal Abdysalamov, Batyr Merdanov (both - up to 73 kg).
And in the women's - Nasiba Narimanov (up to 57 kg).
The tournament dedicated to the memory of Beket Mahmutov will be held from April 7 to 8 at the Almaty Palace of Sports and Culture named after Baluan Sholak.
Beket Sapabekovich Mahmutov from 2009 to 2012 headed the Judo Federation of Kazakhstan, and also served as vice president of the Asian Judo Union.The competition will be held for the sixth time.
More than 300 athletes from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Greece, Georgia, Latvia, Mongolia and the USA will take part in the tournament.
In addition to medals, champions and winners of the tournament will receive rating points. For example, the winner of the tournament will receive 100 points, the silver medalist - 60, and the judoka who won the bronze medal will be awarded 40 points in the world ranking.
