Today Turkmen artists perform on the stage of the first TURKSOY International Theater Festival in Baku.
The creative team of the National Music and Drama Theater named after Magtymguly will show the historical tragedy of Govshutgeldy Dangatarov “Love and Suffering”, written on the basis of biographical data and poems of the Arab poet Qais ibn al Mulavvah and folk tales about the tragic love of Leyli and Majnun.
The performance will be shown on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theater at 15:00, reports the IIC.
The TURKSOY theater festival, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, takes place in the capital of Azerbaijan from November 1 to 4. It united theater groups from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and other Turkic-speaking countries.
Members of the festival jury evaluate the acting, the concept of the production, costumes and makeup, as well as the artistic design of each performance, the source notes.
