Tripartite mechanisms of cooperation ensure regional stability, Turkish media cited the country’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu as saying July 18.
Cavusoglu made the remarks on the eve of his visit to Baku scheduled for July 19 as part of the meeting of the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Turkmen foreign ministers.
The Turkish foreign minister stressed that it is necessary to be a strong country to create tripartite cooperation mechanisms.
Cavusoglu said that following the meeting of the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Turkmen foreign ministers in Baku July 19, he will visit Northern Cyprus.
Azerbaijani, Turkish and Turkmen Foreign Ministers Elmar Mammadyarov, Mevlut Cavusoglu and Rashid Meredov will also consider the issue of implementing the framework program of cooperation of the three countries for 2015-2017, adopted at the Ashgabat Ministerial Meeting, in Baku on July 19, a diplomatic source told Trend July 18.
Moreover, the ministers will discuss the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the fight against terrorism and various challenges.
The first tripartite meeting of the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Turkmen foreign ministers was held in Baku on May 26, 2014, the second meeting - in Ashgabat on January 29, 2015, the third meeting - in Antalya on August 28, 2015.
These meetings give an opportunity to discuss the possibilities of regional partnership in a trilateral format, promote the development of bilateral relations based on mutual benefit, strengthening of regional prosperity, stability and security.
The cooperation of the three countries covers a wide range of issues, including energy, tourism, the humanitarian sphere and politics.
The ministers stressed the importance of developing cooperation in the transport and communication sphere at the meeting in Antalya.
The issue of creating the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey transport corridor was considered.
There are also Azerbaijan-Turkey-Georgia and Azerbaijan-Turkey-Iran formats. The summits of foreign ministers and presidents of those countries were held.
The Azerbaijan-Turkey-Kazakhstan format is planned to be created in the future.
