Turkey’s Foreign Minister pays a visit to Ashgabat

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit. The head of state and the diplomat discussed the promotion of interstate agreements and the development of cooperation, including trade, energy, and transport area as a key in economic interaction.

In particular, the parties stressed that it is necessary to ensure that that the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey international transit route (Lapis Lazuli Corridor) reaches its full capacity.

The head of the Turkey’s Foreign Ministry also had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov today. The ministers considered the issues of political-diplomatic partnership, including cooperation in regional and international structures.

Mevlüt Çavuşoglu expressed readiness of the Turkish side to work on expanding transport-transit and energy corridors for regional economic integration.
