The Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TULM) Open Joint Stock Company transports UN World Food Program’s flour shipment via Turkmen railway to Afghanistan. The cargo was sent from Turkey, the TULM told Business Turkmenistan on Tuesday.
Train wagons with 3,500 tons of flour departed to Afghanistan on October 14. The train will travel 4,889 km in 15 days.
The train that departed from Istanbul arrived at Turkmenistan’s Etrek station through the Iran-Turkmenistan railway track. At the station, the TULM transferred the flour shipment into Turkmen wagons for their further transportation to the Turgundi station in Afghanistan via Turkmen railways.
The first stage of the flour shipment to Afghanistan, carried out under the coordination of the UN, is 20 thousand tons. Its volume is expected to increase to 50 thousand tons in the future.
The TULM said regular cargo transportation from Turkey to Afghanistan through Turkmenistan will be established in the future.
TULM OJSC was established in July 2018. The company was created in order to effectively use the possibilities of international transport corridors passing through Turkmenistan, to help increase the volume of transit goods, and to develop logistics solutions for the delivery of transit, import-export cargo from the consignor to the consignee.
