Trends in mass media development presented to Turkmen journalists at the OSCE seminar

The seminar for young journalists and mass media staff, organized by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat and Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry, is being held in Ashgabat from 19 to 22 June 2018 in Ashgabat.

Within the framework of the seminar the participants will familiarize themselves with basics of journalism and text editing; creating multi-media stories and the media evolution in the present-day context, as well as trends in the media development.

The state information agency TDH reports that the training sessions are conducted by experts from Switzerland Alexandra Stark and Yevgen Glibovitskiy from Ukraine.

In May 2018 new models of broadcasting were presented to Turkmen journalists at the OSCE-supported seminar.

Despite this, throughout the past year President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammemdov has repeatedly stated that “Turkmenistan’s media outlets do not fully cover the accomplishments of the country”.

At the Cabinet session held on 4 May Deputy Prime Minister overseeing culture and mass media Bakhargul Abdyeva briefed the head of the state that “mass media outlets carried out the activities to showcase the accomplishments of the country and explain the nature and goals of large-scale reforms”.
