Training to improve the level of professionalism of Turkmen sailors has started

Yesterday, a 5-day training began to improve the skills of maritime personnel of the "Turkmendenizderyayollary" Agency (Sea and River Routes of Turkmenistan) in accordance with the International Maritime Organization Convention on Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers.

As reported on the Agency’s website, the training was organized by the USAID Central Asia Trade Program.

The training is an important step in increasing the level of professionalism of Turkmen sailors and ensuring the safety of maritime navigation in the region.

Participants will have the opportunity to update their knowledge and skills in accordance with the latest requirements of international standards, which will allow them to more effectively perform their duties and contribute to the development of the maritime industry of Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan acceded to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) on 4 May 2009. Joining this important international convention demonstrates the country's commitment to high standards of maritime safety and its active participation in the global maritime community, the source notes.
