On August 12, 2021, in the city of Turkmenbashi for the workers of the Balkan regional customs, a gender-sensitive trade facilitation training was held, which was organized within the framework of the interaction of the State Customs Service with the International Trade Center (ITC) in the implementation of the regional project "Ready4Trade Central Asia" funded by the European Union.
The training was conducted by the customs officials of the Central Office of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, who had previously been trained at a regional online training on the above topic, with the assistance of the national consultant of ITC, Mr.
Arslan Joraev.The workshop was attended by customs officers of the Balkan Customs Administration and border customs posts located in the city of Turkmenbashi.The training consisted of two sessions.
During the first session, the theme of which was "Gender Equality and Women in Cross-Border Trade", the participants had an opportunity to go deeper and why it is important for society, explored the relationship of gender to trade.
The second session focused on the role of government officials in ensuring sustainable cross-border trade with a gender perspective.Participants received the necessary information and methodological materials on topical issues of gender equality in cross-border trade.
This training on the basis of the Balkan regional customs was the beginning of a series of training trainings for other regional customs administrations.
