Top Turkmen Diplomat Holds Series of Bilateral Talks in Riyadh

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a series of bilateral meetings on Wednesday on the sidelines of the first ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue between the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) and Central Asian countries in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh.

In particular, the top Turkmen diplomat met with foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Kazakhstan, according the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation of Turkmenistan with those countries, including in the trade-economic, investment, political-diplomatic and cultural spheres, as well as the promotion of regional transport projects and the work of joint mechanisms of interaction.

According to the Arab News newspaper, Foreign Minister Meredov was also received by the CEO of Saudi Fund for Development Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad on Thursday. The sides discussed enhancing development cooperation between the two sides and the potential opportunities for development projects in Turkmenistan.

The first ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue between the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) and Central Asian countries resulted in the adoption of a Joint Statement and a Joint Action Plan for 2023-2027 (Road Map of joint cooperation) aimed at establishing practical cooperation in trade, investment, education, healthcare, culture and sports.
