On 6 June Turkmen nationals who arrived from Moscow to Turkmenabat on 30 May, 2021 were transferred from a quarantine facility to a children’s camp located near Turkmenabat in the former collective farm named after Lenin for a three week quarantine, correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report.

Those undergoing the quarantine are pleased with the transfer. Despite the fact that the conditions in the camp facility were bearable, it is much more comfortable to stay in the camp, according to them.

As was previously reported, among passengers of the repatriation flight were those who had been serving a sentence or had been kept in deportation centers of Russia. We managed to find out that there are 42 convicts, including one woman.

The majority were convicted on fraud charges or illegal drug trafficking.

A separate fenced facility was set up for them in the camp.

There are various reasons behind transferring people from the quarantine facility to the children’s camp.

Radio “Azatlyk” reports that on 5 June those from the isolated facility arranged a protest action requesting better quarantine conditions. Following the incident, the people were moved to the children’s camp.

According to Turkmen news, the transfer is related to an increasing number of evacuation flights and a shortage of places in the quarantine facility to accommodate Turkmen citizens arriving from abroad at a time.

Sources of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that President Gurbanguly Berdymukhemmadov is expected to pay a visit to Turkmenabat to attend the opening ceremony for the White Yurt and the new airport in Kerki.

The visit is being prepared by the President’s son Serdar Berdymukhammedov, who paid a visit to the region despite the fact that Turkmen media outlets made no coverage of his visit.

In connection of the visit of a high-ranking official those kept in the quarantine facility were moved outside the city.

The three-week quarantine for those who arrived from Moscow ends on 18 June. Two days later the first shift of schoolchildren from various etraps of Lebap velayat are scheduled to arrive in the camp. The post Those in a quarantine facility in Turkmenabad transferred to the children’s camp.
