The World Judo Championships with the participation of the Turkmenistan team started in Abu Dhabi

The World Championship with the participation of 8 of the strongest Turkmen judokas started at the “Mubadala Arena” in Abu Dhabi. The tournament will close the qualifications for the Olympics in Paris.

658 athletes from 107 countries take part in the competition. As part of the Turkmenistan national team under the leadership of Japanese coach Kazuhiko Tokuno, 8 athletes (5 men and 3 women) will take to the tatami.

Men: Aybek Omirov (up to 60 kg), Serdar Rahimov, Hekim Agamammedov (both up to 66 kg), Mamedalu Achyldyev (up to 90 kg), Baymyrat Madzhanov (up to 100 kg).

Women: Kurbanay Kurbanova (up to 48 kg), Maysa Pardayeva (up to 57 kg), Zulhumar Dashkinova (up to 63 kg).

The winners of the competition will receive 2 thousand points towards Olympic qualification, silver medalists 1,4 thousand, bronze medalists - 1 thousand each. This is the highest “price” of awards at the stages of the World Tour.

The prize fund of the competition will be 800 thousand euros.

The Russian TV channel “Match! Fighter” will broadcast live matches of the World Judo Championship.
