The Turkmenistan Chess Championship among juniors under 20 ended in Ashgabat, where tournament favorites Amanmuhammet Hommadov and Lala Shohradova confirmed their leadership positions, reports the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan.
For the first time, the championship among juniors was held in three formats at once - classical, rapid and blitz chess.
In the rapid tournament, Amanmuhammet Hommadov scored the maximum possible 9 points out of 9 and won the gold medal. For the girls, Lala Shohradova showed the best result with 8 points out of 9.
In classical chess, a stubborn struggle took place between Hommadov, Ahmet Gubatayev and Vepaly Halynyazov.As a result, Hommadov repeated his success in rapid with 8 points out of 9.
The girls were led by Lala Shohradova, Meryem Agajanova and Leyla Shohradova.Lala won with 7,5 points.In the blitz tournament, Lala also became the champion among girls.
Ahmet Gubatayev won the boys' competition in a bitter fight.
The winners received the right to represent Turkmenistan at the world and Asian championships among boys and girls under 20 years old. In total, about 100 athletes took part in the tournament.
