The winners of the “Forests and Innovations” infographic competition were announced in Turkmenistan

Today, the UN Development Program in Turkmenistan summed up the results of the “Forests and Innovations” infographic competition.

The competition was launched on the occasion of the International Day of Forests in March within the framework of the project “Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and high natural value ecosystems in the Aral Sea Basin for multiple benefits” (funded by the GEF).

The winners, whose works demonstrated the importance of preserving terrestrial ecosystems, including forest ecosystems of Turkmenistan, were:

1st place Gulshirin Kadyrova;

2nd place Aylar Rozyeva;

3rd place Babamurat Baltayev.

The award ceremony took place at the UN building in Ashgabat in honor of World Environment Day.

Mary Rizayeva, Acting Resident Representative of UNDP in Turkmenistan presented the winners with certificates and prizes from UNDP.

The “Forests and Innovation” infographic competition was launched to draw public attention to environmental issues such as depletion of soil fertility and land degradation, which lead to desertification, according to a UNDP press release.
