The village of Odei in Lebap brought under special control

Following the death of several inhabitants, the village of Odei, located in Garashsyzlyk etrap in Lebap velayat has been brought under special control by law enforcement and healthcare authorities.

The first incident occurred on 10 July, 2020 when a 64 year old woman, who had had a high temperature for a few days, died.

On 15 July, 2020 a mother and her grown-up son died in another household. Despite the late hour (11 p.m.) healthcare practitioners and police officers demanded that the deceased be buried immediately without holding commemoration ceremonies. The father of the family was admitted to hospital in critical condition.

This family was celebrating the daughter’s wedding in one of Turkmenabad restaurants on 11 July, 2020. Apart from the family, there were about 25 inhabitants of the same village as wedding guests. Some of them have the symptoms of the virus. All of them have been placed under home quarantine.

Police officers are on duty along the perimeter of the village.In the village itself police officers are using loud speakers to warn the residents to refrain from leaving their houses if possible and visiting each other.

The police also encouraged the residents to observe hygiene requirements and to call the ambulance in case of increased temperature or coughing.

According to a local resident, over the past couple of days the ambulance came to the village five or six times.
