The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has been invited to Ashgabat

During a meeting in Geneva, the Chairman of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, Amanmuhammet Sazakov, invited the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, and his team to take part in a regional conference on statelessness, which will be held on November 8 in Ashgabat.

This conference will become an important platform for exchanging experiences and developing strategies to address issues related to statelessness both in the region and at the global level, according to the website of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Geneva.

Also invited to the Ashgabat conference was the Assistant UN High Commissioner for Protection Ms. Ruvendrini Menikdiwela, a meeting with whom took place within the framework of participation in the 75th session of the UNHCR Executive Committee.

Ms. Menikdiwela, who previously worked in Turkmenistan, spoke warmly of her experience of cooperation with the Turkmen side and noted the significant progress made by the country in the humanitarian sphere.
