The second TURKSOY theater festival opens in Ashgabat

On October 18, the II Theatre Festival of the member countries of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) will start in Ashgabat. The opening ceremony will be held in the main drama theatre named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashy the Great.

The festival will bring together not only theatre figures, but also artists from six Turkic states: Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Within the framework of the cultural program, participants are scheduled to visit the “Seyit Jamal-Etdin” architectural complex and the “Magtymguly Fragi” cultural and park complex.

A series of master classes is planned for October 19, where artists from the Turkic states will share their experience with their Turkmen colleagues. The culmination of the creative meeting will be an exhibition of works by participants in the TURKSOY Biennial, which will open on October 20 at the Museum of Fine Arts.

The event is intended to strengthen cultural ties between the Turkic peoples and create a platform for creative exchange between artists from the participating countries, the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan told Turkmenportal.
