The Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin proposed to consider the possibility of establishing regular flights between Astrakhan and Turkmenbashi during a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, TASS reports.

He informed the head of state that soon the cruise liner "Peter the Great", built to work in the Caspian water area, will be launched in Astrakhan.

Igor Babushkin, during a conversation with Serdar Berdimuhamedov, stressed the relevance of the development of humanitarian ties. At the moment, more than 1 thousand citizens of Turkmenistan are studying in the region, he noted.

The Governor also announced his readiness to hold events in Astrakhan dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy.
