Mills Lane, one of the most famous referees in world boxing, has died at the age of 86, reports “MIR 24” with reference to the New York Post.
Lane began refereeing boxing matches back in the 70s, in total he has more than 100 fights for champion titles in his track record. Lane's most famous fight was the one in which Mike Tyson bit off a piece of his rival Evander Holyfield's ear in Las Vegas.
Mills Lane also starred in the animated show “Star Fights to the Death” on MTV. He completed his career as a referee in 1998.
For the last 20 years of his life, Lane struggled with the consequences of a stroke, after which he was partially paralyzed and lost his speech.
