On 5 December President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov held a session of the State Security Council in one of Turkmenistan’s military bases.
After being briefed by Minister of Defense Yalym Berdiev, the President ordered the continuation of a high professional level of commanding officers and encouraging their comprehensive intellectual development and gave instructions to improve the officer training system.
In order to ensure all conditions for an efficient military service, living conditions and daily routine of officers and conscripts, the head of state charged the Minister with several specific tasks, the state information agency TDH reports.
As “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” has previously reported, Turkmenistan’s army is experiencing irregular food provisions for conscripts.
Their diet had previously comprised of mashed potatoes, pilaf and fish, but in the past few months wheat porridge has been served to them.
