The President of Turkmenistan received the Governor of St. Petersburg

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received today the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, who arrived at the head of the delegation in Ashgabat the day before to participate in the celebrations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.

According to the St.Petersburg TV channel, during the meeting, the Governor of St.Petersburg congratulated the President and the people of Turkmenistan on Independence Day.He noted that over the years of sovereignty, the country has achieved significant economic and social success.

Relations between St.Petersburg and Turkmenistan have reached a high level.In particular, the trade turnover between the city on the Neva and Turkmenistan increased by 30%.

Alexander Beglov and Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov paid special attention to the issue of preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War and the blockade of Leningrad. The Governor of St. Petersburg thanked the siege of Leningrad living in Turkmenistan for their help.

Alexander Beglov said that St. Petersburg wants to erect a monument in Ashgabat as a sign of gratitude to the Turkmen people. He wished the friendly Turkmenistan further development and prosperity, and the Turkmen people success.
