At the Sixth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Astana, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of preserving the original meaning and purpose of these meetings, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan, as the initiator of this format of summit meetings, proceeds from the fact that they should be of a consultative nature. In his opinion, this approach permits us to have a more objective and broader understanding of the progress of interaction between the countries of the region.
“I believe that the original meaning and purpose of the Consultative Meetings should be preserved. The creation of any multilateral structures and institutions within their framework, in our opinion, is inappropriate.
We understand each other perfectly, each of our meetings ends with a clear final document, on the basis of which we work further. We believe that from both political and practical points of view there is no need to burden the created format with the establishment of additional superstructures" - President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized.
The President of Turkmenistan also emphasized the importance of the participation in these meetings only of the heads of state of Central Asia, which is due to the purely regional theme of the five-party political dialogue.
He noted that annual meetings permit for a constructive, open and trusting dialogue, “synchronizing watches” and making specific decisions on pressing issues of interaction.
