On 24 April President of Tatarstan Rustan Minnikhanov arrived in Turkmenistan with a one-day working visit, the public affairs office of the President of Tatarstan reports.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhammedov met with Minnikhanov at the Ashgabat Palace of “Rukhyet”.
Minnikhanov and Berdymukhammedov attended the exhibition devoted to the Day of Akhal-Teke Horse and Turkmen Shepherd Dog Alabai (the holidays were combined in December 2021), after which they discussed opportunities for extending cooperation.
The President of Tatarstan said that in 2021 the volume of trade turnover with Turkmenistan was $77,5 mln and proposed to increase it due to cooperation in oil exploration and production, gas transportation, automobile manufacturing, aircraft engineering, shipbuilding and supplies of chemical products.
Berdymukhammedov replied that he was ready to continue “the tradition of close coopertion” with Tatarstan.
Minnikhanov invited the Turkmen delegation to visit Kazan for the celebration of the 1100th anniversary of adopting Islam by the Volga Bulgaria, which is scheduled to be celebrated on 21 May.
Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry and state-run media outlets have not yet reported on Minnikhanov’s visit to Ashgabat.
