On 24 April President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov paid a working visit to Turkmenistan.
According to the Turkmen state-run information agency TDH, Minnikhanov arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the festivities on the occasion of the Day of the Turkmen Horse.
At the meeting with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhammedov the head of Tatarstan expressed interest in developing cooperation in fuel and energy, transportation and communication areas as well as economy and trade, agriculture and high tech solutions.

The President of Turkmenistan pointed out that he is interested in utilizing Tatarstan’s experience in designing and implementing digital technologies.
According to Minnikhanov, the sides discussed the supplies of helicopters to Turkmenistan and cooperation in shipbuilding and energy projects. The President of Tatarstan also mentioned the engineering company IED-HOLDING, “which is not widely represented in Turkmenistan yet but has promising prospects”.
Then the President of Turkmenistan headed to the Ashgabat equestrian complex to meet with the President of Tatarstan. The horse-racing event and the celebrations of the Day of the Akhal-Teke Horse were held there.
TDH reports that after that Minnikhanov met with the former President and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh (the Upper Chamber of Turkmenistan’s Parliament) Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov and discussed the Akhal-teke horses, Turkmen Alabays as well as parliamentary diplomacy.
The President of Tatarstan invited Berdymukhammedov senior to take part in the celebrations of the 1100th anniversary of adopting Islam by the Volga Bulgaria as a distinguished guest, as well as in the XIII International Economic Summit “Russia Islamic World: Kazan Summit 2022” and the annual meeting of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia Islamic World”.
Since 1 April Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov has been on vacation for an indefinite period.The Turkmen media outlets have not specified whether the meeting with Minnikhanov means that the leave of the Chairperson of the Parliament is over.
