On 14 June President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhammedov arrived in Iran with a two-day official visit.
At the airport the Turkmen delegation was welcomed by Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi.
The Iranian news outlet IRNA reports that on 15 June Berdymukhammedov junior was hosted in the Sa’dabad Palace in Tehran by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Based on the outcomes of the negotiations the President signed nine Memorandums of Understanding on extending cooperation in economy, trade, ecology, science and transportation.
The news outlet Mehr reports that speaking in a joint press conference after the ceremony of signing MoUs, President Raeisi said that Iran has had “very good relations” with Turkmenistan for the past three decades and that the visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhammedov to Iran could be a turning point in the relations between the two countries”.
The President of Iran added that his visit to Ashgabat in 2021 strengthened some cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan, especially in the field of transportation and gas swaps.
He also said that there should be more cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, water, electricity and gas”.
Stating that Iran and Turkmenistan are serious to develop relations, Raisi said that Iran was determined to sign a 20-year cooperation document with Turkmenistan.
Referring to situation in the neighbouring Afghanistan, the President of Iran spoke in favour of forming the inclusive government representing all political parties in Afghanistan. Berdymukhammedov, in his turn, pointed out that Turkmenistan and Iran want Afghanistan to become a prosperous state and to have active participation in important national and regional issues.
Berdymukhammedov pointed out that the energy and transportation sectors were among the most important and strategic issues between the two countries. The Turkmen President was quoted as saying: “We will do all our best to develop our cooperation”
