On 4 August in the course of the joint session of Cabinet and Turkmenistan’s Security Council President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov was outraged with the quality of national television programming.
Deputy Prime Minister overseeing culture and mass media Annageldy Garadjaev was severely reprimanded for “poor performance of job responsibilities”.
“Placing the emphasis on the performance of national television, the head of the state emphasized that it is essential to create new and appealing programs for TV viewers, devoted to economic and social themes which provide reliable information on the reforms carried out in the country”, the state information agency TDH reports.
Furthermore, Atageldi Shamyradov, who up to that moment had been acting minister, was appointed to the Minister of Culture and Mass Media.
