The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UNOG discussed cooperation with a representative of the University of Peace

The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva (UNOG) Vepa Hajiyev met with the Permanent Observer of the University of Peace at UNOG, Ambassador David Fernandez Puyana.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the parties discussed issues of establishing cooperation between the University of Peace and the Turkmen side, and also considered available opportunities for interaction regarding the implementation of initiatives previously put forward by the President of Turkmenistan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to develop a Global Security Strategy and establish the Institute of Neutrality and Security in Ashgabat.

Particular attention was paid to possible cooperation on promoting the policy of neutrality. In this context, the possibilities of holding joint thematic events at the Geneva site were considered.

An agreement was also reached to hold the next negotiations in Ashgabat, the source notes.
