The news agency “Turkmenistan: golden age” reported on 9 June, 2021 that the privately owned company Gündogdy is completing the construction of a new airport in the city of Kerki, Lebap velayat.
The resolution on the airport construction was signed by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov in February, 2019. Pursuant to the document, the construction works were scheduled to be launched in May 2019 and the facility was scheduled to be fully commissioned in April 2021.
The former Deputy Prime Minister Mammetkhan Chakyev reported that Turkmenistan intended to invite the world famous French company Thales to install the state-of-the-art equipment at the airport and ensure flight safety.
“Turkmenistan: golden age” reports that the equipment of the new airport facility is currently being tested and commissioned.The airport capacity is 100 passengers per hours.
The departure lounge can accommodate 120 seats.The runway is 2,7 kilometers long and it is capable of servicing all types of aircraft operated by “Türkmenhowaýollary”, according to the news outlet.
