The neighboring countries of Afghanistan and Russia identified the only solution to the problems of this country

The establishment of an inclusive political structure is the only solution to Afghanistan's problems, according to the foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighboring countries - Iran, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Russia. This is stated in a joint statement following the meeting in Tehran.

The diplomats also stated that they support the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan and expressed hope for achieving stability in the country and "harmonious relations" with neighboring countries, reports the Iranian IRNA agency with reference to the text of the document.

The meeting participants expressed concern over the security and governance situation, as well as the socio-economic and humanitarian situation in the country and called on the international community to urgently provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

The negotiators called on "the relevant Afghan parties to confront various threats and challenges, including terrorism, drug smuggling and human trafficking, to fight organized crime and other illicit activities emanating from Afghanistan."

The participants of the meeting on the Afghan problem agreed to create a mechanism for regular engagements of special envoys for Afghanistan and representatives of the embassies in Kabul.

The statement also notes that the parties called on the international community to create a roadmap to promote political engagement, economic integration and regional ties.

On Wednesday, Tehran hosted a meeting of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan with the participation of the foreign ministers of Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi took part in the meeting via video link.

It should be noted that Turkmenistan regularly takes part in multilateral dialogues on Afghanistan. During the current meeting, the readiness of the Turkmen side to facilitate the establishment of an appropriate dialogue and create conditions for the early establishment of peace, harmony and unity in Afghanistan, as a neighboring and neutral state, was reiterated.

The first meeting in the current format was held online on September 8. The foreign ministers agreed to hold the next round of talks in 2022 in China.
