On 22 January, 2020 President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov held the session of the Security Council, in the course of which he expressed grave discontent with the performance of the National Security Minister Yalym Berdiev, the state information agency TDH reports.
Berdyev was severely reprimanded with the final wording “for improper execution of job-related responsibilities and shortcomings at work”. Moreover, the head of the National Security Minister was demoted from Colonel General to Major General and relieved from the post of the Chairperson of the State Security Council.
Let us recall that in November 2019 President Berdymukhammedov had already issued a severe reprimand to Berdyev with the same wording.
In December 2019 sources of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, which had disclosed some details of the arrest of the former Interior Minister Isgender Mulikov, also reported that the inspection was underway to check finances and property of the National Security Minister.
