The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan discussed human rights issues with the UN HCHR

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova held a meeting with the Regional Representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia, Matilda Bogner, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

The parties discussed current issues of partnership in the field of human rights and noted that Turkmenistan works closely with international organizations to improve the activities of democratic institutions and effectively fulfill obligations in this area.

Particular attention was paid to the work of the Interdepartmental Commission to ensure the implementation of Turkmenistan’s international obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law, as well as the positive dialogue with the UN within the framework of this cooperation mechanism.

One of the important areas of cooperation is the implementation of recommendations based on the results of negotiations within the framework of the UN treaty bodies.
