In Ashgabat, a meeting was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and the new Ambassador of the European Union to Turkmenistan Beata Peksa.
According to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in trade and economic, transport and transit, energy, educational spheres, as well as in the field of ecology and water resources management in Central Asia. Issues of exchanging visits at the highest level were also discussed.
Minister Meredov congratulated Ambassador Peksa on her appointment and wished her success in fulfilling her diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the intensification of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union, both in a bilateral format and within the framework of the “European Union - Central Asia” format, was noted. In addition, coordinated work was noted on the implementation of such regional EU programs and projects for Central Asia as BOMCA, CADAP, Erasmus+, etc.
In general, the meeting was held in a constructive and businesslike manner. The parties expressed their readiness to further deepen and expand cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
