The ships of the Merchant Sea Fleet of Turkmenistan, which carry out regular voyages in the Caspian Sea, increased the volume of cargo and passenger transportation in January-June 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.
According to the press service of the fleet, in the first half of this year, the total volume of cargo transportation by the ships of the Merchant Sea Fleet of Turkmenistan amounted to 1.15 million tons, which is 31.4% more than last year.
In general, the cargo transportation plan for the first half of this year was fulfilled by 132.2%.
Cargo turnover in January-June 2023 amounted to 476.838 million tons km, which is 28.7% more year-on-year. The plan for cargo turnover for January-June was implemented by 230.8%.
Passenger turnover in January-June 2023 increased by 100.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2022 and exceeded 3.7 million passenger km. The implementation of the plan amounted to 234.0%.
The marine merchant fleet of Turkmenistan has 20 vessels of various types and classes, including tankers, container ships, refrigerators, passenger ships and ferries. The main base of the fleet is located in the port of Turkmenbashy, which is the largest on the Caspian Sea.
The merchant marine fleet of Turkmenistan plays an important role in the development of the country's economy and tourism, as well as in strengthening international cooperation and friendship with neighboring states.
