The meeting of the working group on the development of the IAEA Country Program was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

On October 21, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a regular meeting of the working group on the development of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Country Program Framework for Turkmenistan for 2024-2029.

Emine Alic, Programme Management Officer of the Europe Division of the IAEA Department of Technical Cooperation, joined the meeting participants via digital video link, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

The participants exchanged views on key aspects of Turkmenistan's interaction with the IAEA. Particular attention was paid to the peaceful use of nuclear energy in areas such as medicine, agriculture, environmental protection and water resources management.

Among the most important areas, cooperation in the field of medicine, in particular the fight against oncological diseases, was identified. In this regard, the IAEA ImPACT program for monitoring joint actions, implemented in Turkmenistan, was noted, the source notes.
