The Iraqi delegation will discuss gas supply issues in Turkmenistan

An Iraqi government delegation went to Turkmenistan to discuss issues of importing Turkmen gas, reports Shafaq News with reference to the Iraqi Ministry of Energy.

The delegation was headed by Energy Minister Ziad Ali Fadel. It is expected that during the negotiations in Ashgabat, agreements will be reached on the procedure for the supply of natural gas from Turkmenistan to Iraq.

In a statement, the Iraqi Ministry of Energy notes that the negotiations are in line with government plans aimed at diversifying energy imports and implementing previously planned investment projects.

Let us remind that at the beginning of October 2023, the “Turkmengas” State Concern and the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity agreed on the annual supply of 10 billion cubic meters of Turkmen natural gas to Iraq under the SWAP scheme through the territory of Iran. As a result of the negotiations, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
