The International Road Transport Union noted the high level of cooperation with Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan and the International Road Transport Union (IRU) is actively cooperating in the field of international transportation, writes Trend with the reference to IRU.

“Today, the IRU and Turkmenistan are actively cooperating at the international level. At the initiative of the government of Turkmenistan and with the support of the IRU, the UN adopted three resolutions on the sustainable development of transport in the period from 2014 to 2017”, said the organization.

It was noted that Turkmenistan and the IRU have been fruitfully cooperating for more than two decades since the country acceded to the International Road Transport Convention (TIR) in 1996.

As per the words of the representative of the International Road Transport Union, Turkmenistan will take a leading role in the adoption and implementation of these resolutions, especially given its role in the “Lapis Lazuli” transport corridor that connects countries such as Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye”.
