Turkmenistan acceded to the Revised Kyoto Convention.On February 3, 2021, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Belgium handed over the original of the Instrument of accession of Turkmenistan to the RKC to the World Customs Organization Secretary General, Mr.
Kunio Mikuriya, who acts as the depositary of the Convention.Thus, Turkmenistan became the 126th Contracting Party to this Convention.The International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures was signed in Kyoto in 1973.
In 1999, in Brussels, the World Customs Organization approved a new version of the convention.It entered into force on February 3, 2006, after 40 contracting parties completed the necessary ratification and accession procedures.
The Kyoto Convention is a universal international legal act in the field of customs that regulates almost all customs issues, the key principles of which include the use of simplified customs procedures, the maximum implementation of information technologies, the utilization of risk management for efficient Customs control, a strong partnership with the trade and other stakeholders.
